Mike has extensive experience leading R&D, operations, finance and corporate development teams for growing technology firms. His multidisciplinary background and approach enables him to rapidly understand business in various sectors and lead both strategic transaction and SR&ED tax credit projects in an effective and successful manner.
Under Mike’s direction R&D Partners has undertaken numerous strategic transactions and SR&ED tax credit projects for start-up to growing multinational technology firms. He has also acted as interim President, VP R&D, VP Corporate Development, and CFO for small and medium sized firms in periods of transition. Prior to forming R&D Partners, he was Director of Corporate Finance and Development in the BCE group where he was involved in strategy development and worked as the prime on several successful R&D intensive ground satellite and software investments, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships. Previously he was Manager, Strategy and Technology Services at KPMG Consulting, where he successfully led business development and consulting teams in the manufacturing and telecommunications sectors. Mike began his career as a project engineer where he worked for several multinational firms on process improvement and R&D projects related to manufacturing, software, hardware, and materials.
Mike has a B.A.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from the University of British Columbia, and the CFA designation. He also serves on the board of directors of several profit and not-for-profit organizations. He is a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec and the CFA Institute.

Debbie has spent her professional career managing engineering, operations and project teams in several technology fields. She is an experienced entrepreneur that clearly understands all aspects of business management. Her engineering and management background enables her to effectively find business solutions and maximize eligible R&D/SR&ED tax credit returns for her technology-based clients.
As a partner with R&D Partners, Debbie has successfully worked with clients to prepare and defend SR&ED tax credit claims for companies ranging from entrepreneurs to multinational corporations. Prior to joining R&D Partners, she spent several years as an owner of a mid-size product design and manufacturing company for the transportation sector; where she held the position of VP Operations, overseeing product development, engineering and manufacturing, prior to selling the company to a large US firm. Debbie started her professional career with Shell Canada as a project engineer, where she managed numerous capital expansion and operation improvement projects throughout Eastern Canada.
Debbie attended McGill University where she received a Mechanical Engineering degree and an MBA. She is currently a board member for two private companies and is an active volunteer in numerous non-profit organizations. She has been a Professional Engineer and member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec since 1990.
Sahar has worked with hundreds of small, medium and large-sized organizations to provide advisory services on corporate funding and government incentives. At R&D Partners, she has been assisting clients across Canada with the SR&ED and E-business tax credit programs for over seven years and has led the work on over $50M in related claims. She specializes in identification and optimization of both the technical and financial aspects of tax credit and grant claims, in project management for major accounts and in team management.
Sahar also co-founded Fundica.com, an intelligent web platform for the identification of grants and incentives for Canadian businesses, where she led product development from ideation to launch and worked closely with the development and marketing teams. Previously, Sahar also worked for Pratt & Whitney Canada, where she led process improvement projects related to manufacturing and quality.
Sahar has a Bachelor’s of Engineering from McGill University and a Master’s of Engineering from Concordia University. She is a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
