Michael Lee, P. Eng., MBA, CFA
Mike leads the North American practice for R&D Partners. In North America, he has successfully worked on over 100 R&D tax credit files for start-up to multinational technology firms. He has a strong background in both R&D and tax/finance.
Prior to forming R&D Partners, he spent several years as Director of Corporate Finance and Development in a large telecom firm where he worked as the prime on several successful R&D intensive ground satellite and software investments, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships. Previously he was Manager, Strategy and Technology Services at KPMG Consulting, where he successfully led business development and consulting teams in the manufacturing and telecommunications sectors. Mike began his career as a project and R&D engineer and has worked with leading traditional, software, and other high tech technology firms.
Mike has an Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from the University of British Columbia, and the CFA designation. He also serves on the board of directors of several profit and not-for-profit organizations.
Brian S. Halminiak, CPA
Since 1999, Brian has been leading research & development tax credit teams of experts possessing unique knowledge in operational consulting, engineering, financial data analysis, process profiling, tax and audit defense. These efforts have led to the recovery of in excess of $100 million dollars of refundable tax credits and cash flow for businesses across all industries including, but not limited to, the automotive, chemical, food, software, metal stamping, point of purchase/store display and many others.
Brian previously served as the National Director of the Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit Consulting Services Practice for an internationally recognized financial & business advisory services organization. Brian also has 25 years of experience in the areas of business advisory, strategic tax, international tax and operational consulting. He served both middle market and publicly traded business owners and management as a tax partner with one of the large accounting firms.
A graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, he earned his Illinois CPA designation and his Missouri CPA designation. Over the years, Brian has served in numerous professional associations and community organizations and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Robert L. Singer, PE
For over 20 years, Robert has been leading efforts to assess business’ operational activities. His broad operational knowledge has allowed him to fill a critical role in identifying qualifying R&D activities. Robert has assisted clients in identifying and recovering tens of millions of dollars in r&d credits. Clients have included manufacturers of metals, plastics, rubber, chemicals, food, electronics and point-of-purchase displays as well as many others.
Previously, Robert was Director of Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit Consulting for one of the large accounting firms and before that was a Director with a premier consulting firm focusing on the diagnosis of under-performing operations / organizations and the rapid implementation of improvement plans.
Robert has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, a B.S. in Applied Physics and an M.S. in Management Engineering.
